APD Urban Planning & Management, LLC. (APD) was retained by the City of Anderson to develop a Neighborhood Revitalization Implementation Plan (NRIP) that addresses the slum and blight in select focus area neighborhoods. The NRIP provides an important framework and a foundation for strategies that respond to the weaknesses and threats that exist within the Focus Area Neighborhoods. The NRIP uses a holistic approach to address the needs of Anderson neighborhoods and citizens by building off of the assets that exist within the City’s neighborhoods, including neighborhood associations, cultural and historic character, religious organizations, community resources, and active community members. APD’s created a neighborhood plan that is linked to other City planning efforts, such as the Downtown Master Plan and the Recreation Master Plan. By capitalizing on all of these assets, implementation of the plan will have the momentum and support necessary for successful neighborhood revitalization.
